Read and know more about Cavaliers vs Celtics- The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics will play Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday afternoon. This series is a rematch of last year’s conference finals, which LeBron James and the Cavaliers won in five games as Kyrie Irving and Isaiah Thomas dueled. This year’s competition will look a lot different. James’ Cavs team swept the Toronto Raptors easily in the second round this year, looking like a complete unit for the first time in months. James himself was brilliant, averaging 34 points on 55 percent shooting, 11 assists, and eight rebounds. Can Boston stop him and a reborn Kevin Love, who averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds in the series? Boston may have been a conference finals favorite in October, but this is hardly the team we pictured them to be after Gordon Hayward signed as a free agent, and Irving was traded from Cleveland. Neither will play in this series due to injury. Yet Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has somehow pushed a young core of rookie Jayson Tatum, sophomore Jaylen Brown, and Terry Rozier to fill into their roles and advance this far. The Celtics knocked off a surging Sixers team in five games, limiting Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid just enough. That was just a warm up compared to The King, who’s looking for his eighth consecutive trip to the Finals. “He’s been doing this for a long time,” Marcus Smart said, according to the NBA. “He’s, if not the greatest, one of the greatest to do it. What better way than to go up and compete against a guy that’s [going to have] statues and things like that.” Key stats: Nine players from last year's Boston-Cleveland conference finals series will participate in this year's rematch. ... Cleveland's LeBron James is seeking his eighth consecutive trip to the NBA Finals. He is averaging 34.3 points, 9.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists in the playoffs while shooting 55.3%. ... Boston forward-center Al Horford's teams are 1-16 in playoff games against James' teams. Outlook: After Boston's intense injuries and Cleveland's massive makeover, this series looks far different than last year's matchup or what was projected earlier this year. A Kyrie Irving-Isaiah Thomas matchup has become a Terry Rozier-George Hill duel. This series is about how the shrewd tactics of Celtics coach Brad Stevens can counter the basketball genius of James' remarkable late-career resurgence. Boston will try rotating personnel and various schemes (layers of big-men support) to reduce James' dominance, but the key might be neutralizing the supporting cast. Horford has been a two-way star and will be tough on Kevin Love, who averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 54% in his last three Cleveland games. Boston has leaned on top-rated defense when the offense waned, but has found scoring in Rozier and rookie Jayson Tatum. And then there were four. The 2018 NBA postseason is halfway through its four-round schedule, with only the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics left standing. The on-paper potential for drama is through the roof as the conference finalists fight for the two openings in the championship round. With a three-day layoff between this round and the last, the hunger for hoops is causing stomachs to growl across the basketball landscape. But the Cavs and Celtics will start to answer that demand during Sunday's opener, while the Warriors-Rockets series tips one night later. After examining the latest odds, courtesy of OddsShark, and laying out the upcoming schedule, we'll dig deeper into both of the upcoming matchups.
